Gravity Rush 3 is the third title in the Gravity Rush series after Gravity Rush 2, which was a direct sequel to Gravity Rush. It was officially announced at The Game Awards 2023 on December 14, 2023 and is the first original Gravity Rush title available on multiple platforms at launch and the first original game by PlayStation Studios with this distinction, releasing on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 1 on November 8, 2024; despite this, the first multi-platform game in the Gravity Rush series and the first one by the studio that is not of the MLB: The Show series is actually Gravity Rush: The Story So Far, which was also developed by Bungie Tokyo.

Gravity Rush 3 serves as the first chapter of the Overbejeweled Purveyance Arc, dealing with the events leading up to the decisive showdown between Kat and Princess Pherba. It focuses on Kat's journey to reclaim the Apple of Light and gather her assistants to combat the sinister plans of Pherba and Dark Kat.

A downloadable expansion pack titled Gravity Rush 3: King of the Hearts was released worldwide on April 16, 2025. It added new gameplay and story elements.

Gravity Rush 3 and Gravity Rush 3: King of the Hearts were released as a single game on September 26, 2025 for PC via Steam.

Story

After the events of Gravity Rush 2, the Goodwill Emissary from Hekseville and her assistant arrive in New Yerk City to bring a gift from D'nelica for Smithers. However, it turns out to be an act of deceit; the Goodwill Emissary and her assistant are actually villains respectively named Princess Pherba and the evil mysterious woman Dark Kat, who quickly ransack the hospital by stealing the Apple of Light using Plaque.

Meanwhile, Kat and Dusty are at her house, when Raven runs by to alert Kat to the ordeal; Kat heads off to New Yerk City, only to be arrested by a pair of police officers. In court, the prosecution reveals that the Apple of Light from the hospital is missing. Eyewitness accounts indicate that Kat is the guilty party, and despite Raven's attempted objection, Kat is found guilty and is thrown in jail where she meets an elderly prisoner. While there, she inflates herself, inadvertently breaking the bars from her holding cell. However, the guards attempt to extend her sentence and escort her to an available cell that is not broken, but Raven says that Kat is innocent, to which they agree to let her save New Yerk from Pherba, Dark Kat and the Plaque.

Trivia

This is the first original Gravity Rush game not to be directed by Keiichiro Toyama nor designed by Junya Okura, but rather Naoko Sato and Yoshiaki Yamaguchi, respectively. Okura left Sony Interactive Entertainment alongside Keiichiro Toyama and Kazunobu Sato on December 2, 2020 to form Bokeh Game Studio.
