==Plot Summary==
==Plot Summary==
'''Splatoon: Clean Teens''' showcases the stories of young, ambitious youth that yearn to rise to stardom in the Turf War scene during the franchise's ''''Splat-tastic Saga'''' (''Splatoon'', ''Splatoon 2'' , and ''Splatoon 3''). Each with their own reasons on why they entered. But most importantly, their Hero Mode tales are one-to-one on what actually transpired in said stories, but have some unique twists to spice them up slightly. The story's tone is mostly aimed towards readers in the range of ages 7 to 10, but sometimes depicts content that is more in line towards teenagers (i.e. graphic violence and Splatoon-style puns on swear words).

Do note that ''Splatoon: Clean Teens'' is ambiguous to the official Nintendo Canon for Splatoon. It is only made to be a fun AU by a fellow Splatoon fan.

==List of Differences==
==List of Differences==

''Splatoon: Clean Teens'' has quite a few differences from official Splatoon Media to make it feel unique from them.
===Differences from the Games===
===Differences from the Games===
* Not only are the respective Battle Towers used as Turf War lobbies for competitive and casual players to organize battles, they also include Commentator studios, multiple locker rooms and large spaces inside like Splatoon 3's Battle Lobby for practice drills.
* The Shoal in both Inkopolis and Splatsville is an arcade/entertainment center instead of a Turf War matching lobby.
* The amiibo Boxes are nonexistent.
* The Shops sell the Gear Items that are normally obtainable from both Hero Modes (Octo Valley, Octo Canyon, Octo Expansion, Return of the Mammalians, Side Order), Judd (In Splatoon), amiibo, Special Splatfests, Wandercrust & Grizzco. With Gear made by the latter being sold for very expensive prices due to Mr. Grizz giving the sellers "copyright fees" so he can improve his business and its goals, while the Gear from the others are sold for cheap prices similar to the "Rookie Gear".
* The shops don't sell the Japan-Exclusive Gear Items (The SQUID GIRL Set, the FA-11 Bomber Jackets, the Limited Edition V-Neck Tees, the Milky Eminence Set, the Sennyu Collection, the Mecha Set and Koshien Set), as ''Splatoon: Clean Teens'' is based on the North American Versions/Translations of the Splatoon Games. But the Black Pipe, White Line & SWC Logo Tees, the Traditional, CoroCoro, Moist Ghillie & Online Sets were the grand prizes in convention contests held in early May 2015 M.E and late June 2017 M.E respectively as the only sets in existence.
* Gear ordered through SplatNet is forwarded to the Gear Shops rather than through Spyke or Murch.
* Ammo Knights doesn't sell the Hero Weapon Replicas due to Sheldon never finding his Grandfather's lost top-secret Weapon blueprints (The ones from Splatoon's amiibo Challenges) and agreeing to the New Squidbeak Splatoon's "secrecy policy".
* The Battle Lobbies, Battle Dojo, Shoal, Grizzco Industries and Shops are temporarily closed during weeks containing big holidays, such as Squidmas (Barring FrostyFest).
* There are no duplicates of all eight Grizzco Weapon types. Meaning that there is only one of each in existence, which are only used by Grizzco's best Employees.
* The servers for SplatNet are located in Inkopolis Tower.
* As of the Splatsville League, with the Spawner Drones replacing the Spawn Points, each of the League's Stages have a special, indestructible Squid Beakon in each Team's base for Players to super jump back to.
* The "green restroom" in Barnacle & Dime is replaced with a generic janitor closet.
* Stages that got terrain modifications in Post-Release updates are used at the start of their Leagues. Specifically;
** Splatoon:
*** Urchin Underpass, Saltspray Rig, Arowana Mall, Kelp Dome and Moray Towers in v2.0
** Splatoon 2:
*** Musselforge Fitness, Humpback Pump Track, Inkblot Art Academy, Moray Towers and Port Mackerel in v2.1
*** Starfish Mainstage, Snapper Canal and Piranha Pit in v4.0
*** The Reef in v4.2
*** Blackbelly Skatepark in v4.3
*** Kelp Dome in v4.4
*** Shellendorf Institute and New Albacore Hotel in v5.0
** Shifty Stations:
*** The Secret of S.P.L.A.T., Goosponge and Windmill House on the Pearlie in v3.0
** Splatoon 3:
*** MakoMart and Wahoo World in v3.0
*** Mahi-Mahi Resort in v5.1
*** Mincemeat Metalworks in v6.1
*** Undertow Spillway in v7.2
*** Scorch Gorge, Eeltail Alley, Hagglefish Market, Hammerhead Bridge, Museum d'Alfonsino, Brinewater Springs, Flounder Heights, Um'ami Ruins, Manta Maria, Barnacle & Dime, Crableg Capital, Bluefin Depot and Marlin Airport in v8.0.
* The performance of all Gear Abilities, Main Weapons, Sub Weapons and Special Weapons match those as of their games' final update patches. Specifically;
** Splatoon v2.12.1
** Splatoon 2 v5.5.1
** Splatoon 3 v8.0 (CURRENT)

===Differences from the Manga===
===Differences from the Manga===
To differentiate from the Splatoon Manga, certain aspects are changed to give the story and characters more of a less comedic tone, esthetic and atmosphere.
* The main protagonists have serious and mature personalities, rather than the Manga's Goggles having a silly and childish personality in comparison.
* Each Splatoon game story arc has its own main protagonist to be the "mascot" of said arc, while the previous ones get a support role.
* Female Inklings/Octolings are shown to also be Team Captains as well as Males, compared to the Manga where basically every single shown Team in it (prior to its Splatoon 3 arc) is led by a Male Inkling/Octoling.
* All of the original Characters have distinct human-like names, rather than being named after a piece of Gear they wear.

==Turf War Rules & Regulations==
==Turf War Rules & Regulations==
The Turf War Administration in ''Splatoon: Clean Teens'' has a slew of rules so the League can be as fair and enjoyable for everyone competing.
* New arrivals of the Turf War scene start with the "Rookie Set", which has a one-thousand Cash price for the whole set plus the entry fee, but they can buy from shops right away with extra money they brought. But in the Splatsville League, new and veteran players are also given a Sheldon License to trade in for the Weapon of their choice.
* New Inkling/Octoling competitor entrants must be fourteen years old in order to enter.
* If two competing Teams of similar Ink Colors (e.g. Turquoise and Cyan) wanted to challenge each other in a battle, one Team HAS to change their Color to help differentiate each Team Color to prevent confusion from both the competitors, commentators and viewers.
* Mode-Specific Stage terrain is handled by the League organizers alongside Neo.
* Matches can be declared draws if a Teammate either cannot make it in time to compete or deliberately leaves the match. Draws can also be declared if there are signs of disrespectful acts or wardrobe malfunctions.
* There should be NO physical contact (Touching) with Teammates and opponents.
* Manipulating Battles (A reference to Splatoon hackers), bribing the Judds, use of illegally modified or stolen Weapons and Gear (Another reference to Splatoon hackers as well as Grizzco Industries) will lead to indefinite bans.
* Actions of harassment, bullying, threatening others, or use of profanity/vulgar slurs in battle will lead to temporary bans. But repeated violations, or if the offense is extremely major, will lead to longer or even indefinite bans.
* Squidbagging opponents in matches will lead to a ten-thousand Cash fine. If both Teams begin a Squid Party in a match, they are all banned for a month and given a one million Cash fine.
* If a Player ignores a match's current objective by staying idle, not helping Teammates ink Turf or show acts of trolling other Players, they will receive a one year ban.
* Food and drinks are prohibited in matches, but gum and the soda from the Tacticooler Special are allowed.
* Players are required to take mandatory restroom breaks before a match.
* Blunt weapons (knives, bats, etc.) used in matches are illegal. If a player is found with one, they are arrested and fined.
* Use of Turf War Weapons outside of Battles is prohibited.
* For Stages that contain doorways to small rooms on the play field (such as in Flounder Heights), it is illegal to enter them while a match is in progress. If there are any accounts of such, the accounted player will be banned for a week and ordered to do community service during that time-frame.
* Players are required to wear three small devices:
** The "Special-Limiter" to prevent unfair advantages and only have their Main Weapon's single Special.
** The "Jump-Limiter" to confine players' super jump distance to the radius of the Stage and to prevent players from jumping out of ongoing matches and also sync's their spirit to their Team's Spawn Point/Spawner Drones.
*** Certain Specials; mainly the Bomb Rush, Bubbler, Echolocator, Kraken, Splashdown, Ink Armor, Booyah Bomb, Killer Wail 5.1, Zipcaster, Kraken Royale and Triple Splashdown are activated through similar devices.
** The "Cephal-Com", which is a small earpiece so Teammates can communicate with each other regardless of distance.
* Elite Turf War Team members must have differing Special Weapons (e.g. Trizooka, Triple Inkstrike, Killer Wail 5.1 and Kraken Royale), this includes Bomb Rush/Launcher types. Meaning that two or more members can't have the same Special.
* Both Elite Turf War Team members and casual players joined in a Team CAN'T have more than one of the same Weapon. Here are some examples:
** Two Splattershots and two Splatana Stampers.
** Three .52 Gals and one Custom E-liter 4K.
** Four Splash-o-matics
* A Team, either Elite or Casual, CAN'T have more than one Charger-Class or Splatling-Class Weapon respectively. This is so said Teams won't be in a severely disadvantageous matchup. But they can have one of each respectively.
* Squid Beakons are the only Sub Weapon that can only have ONE user on a Team.
* Sheldon's special Shel-drones are used by the Turf War League to record battles live from overhead and send a top-down view image of the Stage so the Judds can declare a winner in Turf War.
* Elite Teams must consist of two boys and two girls. But Splatsville included another option to allow a Team to consist of one gender, but ONLY can if they show lawyers proof that their biological-gender matches the one they claim to be. Even going through a lie-detector test as a precaution. If not, they are rejected.
* Elite Turf War Teams are required to have companies sponsor them. With the Leagues themselves being sponsored by SquidForce, Ammo Knights, Crust Bucket, Grizzco Industries, the Gear Shops and the various Weapon manufacturers and Gear Brands.
* The Turf War Leagues start each day by posting the battle schedule both on SplatNet along with its Newscast to broadcast.
* Leagues' first day starts with Elite Teams meeting up with their Teammates, be given rulebooks, and time to shop for their Equipment. Then the Elite Team qualifiers commence and with normal battle schedules starting soon later. Normal days run from 8am to 8pm c.t. (Cephalon Time).
* For the schedule for Splatfests, they start at 8pm c.t. and run for their usual durations. With a concert being held at the halfway point of the event. But for the events that run longer than twenty-four hours and the Splatsville League's Splatfests have the concert held halfway through each day of the event.
* Days with Splatfests that run for over twenty-four hours have downtime windows after the concerts lasting six hours so attendees can rest up.
* Battle schedules and Player/Team stats can be viewed on SplatNet.
* If a Team has quit, been banned or fully retired before or after the Final Splatfest of the League they competed in, those Team colors are advertised for refilling if one of their colors are returning.
* The Turf War Administration has the rights to announce orders to replace Special Weapons and Gear Abilities that they feel are unfair, discontinue Stages and announce renovation construction on ones returning, and also to retire certain Ink colors to replace newer ones, or bring old ones back.
* A Team can change their official color only once. Even if their previous one returns.
* The Final Splatfests are hosted as the conclusion of a Turf War League. Also due to this, players that competed in said Leagues must return their Main Weapons the day after the event.

Splatoon: Clean Teens is a comic style novel of an AU in the Splatoon Series that was inspired by its Manga published by CoroCoro, but is instead more focused on the franchise's competitive scene, have a more serious tone than comedic, and be made to have certain attributes of the Series be more cleaner for general audiences than the fandom actually makes it look like.

Plot Summary

Splatoon: Clean Teens showcases the stories of young, ambitious youth that yearn to rise to stardom in the Turf War scene during the franchise's Splat-tastic Saga (Splatoon, Splatoon 2 , and Splatoon 3).

Do note that Splatoon: Clean Teens is ambiguous to the official Nintendo Canon for Splatoon. It is only made to be a fun AU by a fellow Splatoon fan.

List of Differences

Splatoon: Clean Teens has quite a few differences from official Splatoon Media to make it feel unique from them.

Differences from the Games

  • Not only are the respective Battle Towers used as Turf War lobbies for competitive and casual players to organize battles, they also include Commentator studios, multiple locker rooms and large spaces inside like Splatoon 3's Battle Lobby for practice drills.
  • The Shoal in both Inkopolis and Splatsville is an arcade/entertainment center instead of a Turf War matching lobby.
  • The amiibo Boxes are nonexistent.
  • The Shops sell the Gear Items that are normally obtainable from both Hero Modes (Octo Valley, Octo Canyon, Octo Expansion, Return of the Mammalians, Side Order), Judd (In Splatoon), amiibo, Special Splatfests, Wandercrust & Grizzco. With Gear made by the latter being sold for very expensive prices due to Mr. Grizz giving the sellers "copyright fees" so he can improve his business and its goals, while the Gear from the others are sold for cheap prices similar to the "Rookie Gear".
  • The shops don't sell the Japan-Exclusive Gear Items (The SQUID GIRL Set, the FA-11 Bomber Jackets, the Limited Edition V-Neck Tees, the Milky Eminence Set, the Sennyu Collection, the Mecha Set and Koshien Set), as Splatoon: Clean Teens is based on the North American Versions/Translations of the Splatoon Games. But the Black Pipe, White Line & SWC Logo Tees, the Traditional, CoroCoro, Moist Ghillie & Online Sets were the grand prizes in convention contests held in early May 2015 M.E and late June 2017 M.E respectively as the only sets in existence.
  • Gear ordered through SplatNet is forwarded to the Gear Shops rather than through Spyke or Murch.
  • Ammo Knights doesn't sell the Hero Weapon Replicas due to Sheldon never finding his Grandfather's lost top-secret Weapon blueprints (The ones from Splatoon's amiibo Challenges) and agreeing to the New Squidbeak Splatoon's "secrecy policy".
  • The Battle Lobbies, Battle Dojo, Shoal, Grizzco Industries and Shops are temporarily closed during weeks containing big holidays, such as Squidmas (Barring FrostyFest).
  • There are no duplicates of all eight Grizzco Weapon types. Meaning that there is only one of each in existence, which are only used by Grizzco's best Employees.
  • The servers for SplatNet are located in Inkopolis Tower.
  • As of the Splatsville League, with the Spawner Drones replacing the Spawn Points, each of the League's Stages have a special, indestructible Squid Beakon in each Team's base for Players to super jump back to.
  • The "green restroom" in Barnacle & Dime is replaced with a generic janitor closet.
  • Stages that got terrain modifications in Post-Release updates are used at the start of their Leagues. Specifically;
    • Splatoon:
      • Urchin Underpass, Saltspray Rig, Arowana Mall, Kelp Dome and Moray Towers in v2.0
    • Splatoon 2:
      • Musselforge Fitness, Humpback Pump Track, Inkblot Art Academy, Moray Towers and Port Mackerel in v2.1
      • Starfish Mainstage, Snapper Canal and Piranha Pit in v4.0
      • The Reef in v4.2
      • Blackbelly Skatepark in v4.3
      • Kelp Dome in v4.4
      • Shellendorf Institute and New Albacore Hotel in v5.0
    • Shifty Stations:
      • The Secret of S.P.L.A.T., Goosponge and Windmill House on the Pearlie in v3.0
    • Splatoon 3:
      • MakoMart and Wahoo World in v3.0
      • Mahi-Mahi Resort in v5.1
      • Mincemeat Metalworks in v6.1
      • Undertow Spillway in v7.2
      • Scorch Gorge, Eeltail Alley, Hagglefish Market, Hammerhead Bridge, Museum d'Alfonsino, Brinewater Springs, Flounder Heights, Um'ami Ruins, Manta Maria, Barnacle & Dime, Crableg Capital, Bluefin Depot and Marlin Airport in v8.0.
  • The performance of all Gear Abilities, Main Weapons, Sub Weapons and Special Weapons match those as of their games' final update patches. Specifically;
    • Splatoon v2.12.1
    • Splatoon 2 v5.5.1
    • Splatoon 3 v8.0 (CURRENT)

Differences from the Manga

To differentiate from the Splatoon Manga, certain aspects are changed to give the story and characters more of a less comedic tone, esthetic and atmosphere.

  • The main protagonists have serious and mature personalities, rather than the Manga's Goggles having a silly and childish personality in comparison.
  • Each Splatoon game story arc has its own main protagonist to be the "mascot" of said arc, while the previous ones get a support role.
  • Female Inklings/Octolings are shown to also be Team Captains as well as Males, compared to the Manga where basically every single shown Team in it (prior to its Splatoon 3 arc) is led by a Male Inkling/Octoling.
  • All of the original Characters have distinct human-like names, rather than being named after a piece of Gear they wear.

Turf War Rules & Regulations

The Turf War Administration in Splatoon: Clean Teens has a slew of rules so the League can be as fair and enjoyable for everyone competing.

  • New arrivals of the Turf War scene start with the "Rookie Set", which has a one-thousand Cash price for the whole set plus the entry fee, but they can buy from shops right away with extra money they brought. But in the Splatsville League, new and veteran players are also given a Sheldon License to trade in for the Weapon of their choice.
  • New Inkling/Octoling competitor entrants must be fourteen years old in order to enter.
  • If two competing Teams of similar Ink Colors (e.g. Turquoise and Cyan) wanted to challenge each other in a battle, one Team HAS to change their Color to help differentiate each Team Color to prevent confusion from both the competitors, commentators and viewers.
  • Mode-Specific Stage terrain is handled by the League organizers alongside Neo.
  • Matches can be declared draws if a Teammate either cannot make it in time to compete or deliberately leaves the match. Draws can also be declared if there are signs of disrespectful acts or wardrobe malfunctions.
  • There should be NO physical contact (Touching) with Teammates and opponents.
  • Manipulating Battles (A reference to Splatoon hackers), bribing the Judds, use of illegally modified or stolen Weapons and Gear (Another reference to Splatoon hackers as well as Grizzco Industries) will lead to indefinite bans.
  • Actions of harassment, bullying, threatening others, or use of profanity/vulgar slurs in battle will lead to temporary bans. But repeated violations, or if the offense is extremely major, will lead to longer or even indefinite bans.
  • Squidbagging opponents in matches will lead to a ten-thousand Cash fine. If both Teams begin a Squid Party in a match, they are all banned for a month and given a one million Cash fine.
  • If a Player ignores a match's current objective by staying idle, not helping Teammates ink Turf or show acts of trolling other Players, they will receive a one year ban.
  • Food and drinks are prohibited in matches, but gum and the soda from the Tacticooler Special are allowed.
  • Players are required to take mandatory restroom breaks before a match.
  • Blunt weapons (knives, bats, etc.) used in matches are illegal. If a player is found with one, they are arrested and fined.
  • Use of Turf War Weapons outside of Battles is prohibited.
  • For Stages that contain doorways to small rooms on the play field (such as in Flounder Heights), it is illegal to enter them while a match is in progress. If there are any accounts of such, the accounted player will be banned for a week and ordered to do community service during that time-frame.
  • Players are required to wear three small devices:
    • The "Special-Limiter" to prevent unfair advantages and only have their Main Weapon's single Special.
    • The "Jump-Limiter" to confine players' super jump distance to the radius of the Stage and to prevent players from jumping out of ongoing matches and also sync's their spirit to their Team's Spawn Point/Spawner Drones.
      • Certain Specials; mainly the Bomb Rush, Bubbler, Echolocator, Kraken, Splashdown, Ink Armor, Booyah Bomb, Killer Wail 5.1, Zipcaster, Kraken Royale and Triple Splashdown are activated through similar devices.
    • The "Cephal-Com", which is a small earpiece so Teammates can communicate with each other regardless of distance.
  • Elite Turf War Team members must have differing Special Weapons (e.g. Trizooka, Triple Inkstrike, Killer Wail 5.1 and Kraken Royale), this includes Bomb Rush/Launcher types. Meaning that two or more members can't have the same Special.
  • Both Elite Turf War Team members and casual players joined in a Team CAN'T have more than one of the same Weapon. Here are some examples:
    • Two Splattershots and two Splatana Stampers.
    • Three .52 Gals and one Custom E-liter 4K.
    • Four Splash-o-matics
  • A Team, either Elite or Casual, CAN'T have more than one Charger-Class or Splatling-Class Weapon respectively. This is so said Teams won't be in a severely disadvantageous matchup. But they can have one of each respectively.
  • Squid Beakons are the only Sub Weapon that can only have ONE user on a Team.
  • Sheldon's special Shel-drones are used by the Turf War League to record battles live from overhead and send a top-down view image of the Stage so the Judds can declare a winner in Turf War.
  • Elite Teams must consist of two boys and two girls. But Splatsville included another option to allow a Team to consist of one gender, but ONLY can if they show lawyers proof that their biological-gender matches the one they claim to be. Even going through a lie-detector test as a precaution. If not, they are rejected.
  • Elite Turf War Teams are required to have companies sponsor them. With the Leagues themselves being sponsored by SquidForce, Ammo Knights, Crust Bucket, Grizzco Industries, the Gear Shops and the various Weapon manufacturers and Gear Brands.
  • The Turf War Leagues start each day by posting the battle schedule both on SplatNet along with its Newscast to broadcast.
  • Leagues' first day starts with Elite Teams meeting up with their Teammates, be given rulebooks, and time to shop for their Equipment. Then the Elite Team qualifiers commence and with normal battle schedules starting soon later. Normal days run from 8am to 8pm c.t. (Cephalon Time).
  • For the schedule for Splatfests, they start at 8pm c.t. and run for their usual durations. With a concert being held at the halfway point of the event. But for the events that run longer than twenty-four hours and the Splatsville League's Splatfests have the concert held halfway through each day of the event.
  • Days with Splatfests that run for over twenty-four hours have downtime windows after the concerts lasting six hours so attendees can rest up.
  • Battle schedules and Player/Team stats can be viewed on SplatNet.
  • If a Team has quit, been banned or fully retired before or after the Final Splatfest of the League they competed in, those Team colors are advertised for refilling if one of their colors are returning.
  • The Turf War Administration has the rights to announce orders to replace Special Weapons and Gear Abilities that they feel are unfair, discontinue Stages and announce renovation construction on ones returning, and also to retire certain Ink colors to replace newer ones, or bring old ones back.
  • A Team can change their official color only once. Even if their previous one returns.
  • The Final Splatfests are hosted as the conclusion of a Turf War League. Also due to this, players that competed in said Leagues must return their Main Weapons the day after the event.
