I'm not sure how important the table of usable elements is since it's a lot of canon information, but it also can have stuff like which elements are too complex for a level editor (like bosses and a couple stage hazards) and special controls for placing certain things (like the pipes))

The Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle level editor is DLC released on September 31st, 2022. It comes with the season pass and is also available to people with Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope save data. It allows players to make their own stages for the game and share them with others using an interface similar to Super Mario Maker, although optimized for non-touchscreen use.

Basic editing

When making a level, the gameplay style must be chosen before beginning and cannot be changed.

  • Singleplayer: 3 heroes. Skill tree/weapons can be modified.
  • Co-op: 4 heroes, separated into P1 and P2. Skill tree/weapons can be modified.
  • Versus: 6 heroes, separated into P1 and P2. Skill tree/weapons can only be chosen from presets.
  • DK: 3 heroes, those being DK, Rabbid Cranky, and Rabbid Peach. Skill tree/weapons can be modified.

Afterwards, the 3-6 starting hero positions are put onto a 10x10 (expandable up to 99x99 by dragging the corners) grid along with solid ground under them. A cursor identical to the one used for tacticam appears, which can be used to move elements.

Controls

  • Control Stick: Move cursor
  • Right Stick: Rotate camera
    • Uses a camera control similar to the in-battle one by default. Pressing the right stick changes it to a more gradual one similar to the overworld camera.
  • A: Place element from menu
  • B: Delete element
  • X
    • Hold: Pick up/put down single element
    • Press: Rotate element
  • Y: Select multiple cells to move the contents of (pressing once begins selection, pressing a second time picks up selection, pressing a third time sets down selection)
  • ZL: Undo
  • ZR: Redo
  • L: Zoom out
  • R: Zoom in
  • D-pad: Navigate element menu

Level editor

The left end of the element menu has a menu icon that allows for editing level parameters, saving levels, loading levels, playing levels, sharing levels, and accessing online. The right end has a menu that drops down a list of all available elements. The most recently used elements are in between for easier access.

List of level parameters

  • Turn limit: The maximum number of turns a level can take
  • Win condition: The requirements for winning
    • Defeat all: Defeat all enemies
    • Defeat Midboss(es): Defeat all midbosses
    • Reach area(s): Reach specified points
    • Escort to area: Have Toad/Toadette/Spawny reach an area
    • Retrieve Washing Machine parts: Get washing machine parts (can only be selected if there is at least one Collector on the field. Collectors do not drop parts unless this is set to win condition)
    • Stop Smugglers: Prevent Smugglers from reaching area (can only be selected if there is at least one Smuggler on the field. Smugglers use normal Smasher AI if this is not selected as the win condition)
  • Enemy super effect: If enemies have a 100% chance to get super effects when they hit the heroes

Hero C Start position for the third hero (Rabbid Peach in DK mode, farthest right in other modes). Renamed to Hero 1-C in VS, but otherwise identical.
Hero 2-A Same as Hero A, but for the second player.

Lower ground Lowers ground in increments of half a cell at a time.
Slope Sloped ground that allows going from one height level to another.
Standard cover Normal cover that can break in battle. A brick block in non-DK modes and wood blocks in DK mode.
Standard half cover Same as standard cover but only 50% protection.
Metal cover Indestructible cover
Metal half cover Same as metal cover but only 50% protection.
Glass cover Cover that breaks in one hit.
Glass half cover Same as glass cover but only 50% protection.
Super effect cover Cover that triggers damage and a super effect upon breaking. The specific super effect and whether or not it is disguised as a regular cover is selected from a menu that pops up in the element selector when the super effect icon is selected.
Pipe A pipe that can be used to traverse the stage. Unlike other elements, pipes cannot be moved once placed. Placing a pipe entrance results in specialized controls for placing pipes: The control stick drags the pipe across the same horizontal plane, while L and R make the pipe turn downwards and upwards, respectively. In addition, undo and redo will undo the last movement of the pipe until the A button is pressed again, which closes the pipe with the other end. In addition, while pipes with no ground under them can be placed in the editor, levels cannot be tested unless there is at least two adjacent ground tiles next to every single pipe entrance.
Enemy Drops down a list of all enemies. While the drop-down is open, L and R change to switching between enemy ranks (Garden, Sherbert, Spooky, Lava, Tropical, and Midboss. Some notes:
  • Enemies are grayed out if they are not available in that rank
  • Selecting Midboss completely replaces the list rather than graying out
  • The number of Midbosses is capped at 15, while the number of regular enemies is capped at 50

Testing levels

Levels can be tested at any time by pressing the minus button. For singleplayer and DK levels, this operates identically to initiating a Challenge with the three starting party members selected. For co-op levels, this opens up the standard singleplayer before-battle overlay with the Tacticam and Battle HQ options (with the first four party members selected), although going to team selection in the battle HQ pulls up the cop-op character select. Both sides are controlled by one controller if tested directly from the editor. For testing VS, it is completely identical to starting a normal VS match, except both sides are controlled by one controller if tested directly from the editor.

For all modes' testing, the only three pause menu options are Resume battle, Restart battle, and Back to editing.

Sharing levels

Sharing levels can be done either online or locally. Local sharing allows for other nearby consoles to download a level being shared, and shared Co-op/VS levels can be played with two separate consoles. Sharing a level online allows anyone to play it, and levels can be searched by name, level ID, or uploading user and filtered by level type and win condition. Co-op/VS levels can also be done with friends online, supporting voice chat with the Nintendo Switch Online app.
